| What sort of photograph is
suitable for converting to a Jigsaw. |
| |
1. Paper Photograph
by post
|
a. Marks & Blemishes We can remove minor marks, but the photograph should be
largely unmarked and undamaged.
|
b. Focus The subject of the photograph should be in focus. We cannot
correct out of focus images.
|
c. Image size We accept any size of image, down to passport size, although the quality
may suffer if a small image is enlarged to 8"X10". Our preference
is for a standard 4"x6" photograph which we can scan and return to you
with the finished jigsaw.

2. Digital image
sent by post on a CD
|
Image size,
formats and pixels The image can be as large as you like and can be in any image
format such as .bmp, .tiff, .png etc. However if you compress and
reduce the size of the image, please do not go below 150 pixels/inch.
For compressed images we prefer JPEG (jpg) at highest quality.
If you are ordering the larger Jigsaw (8"x10") from a 6"x4" original, we would suggest
the digital image should have a minimum of 150 pixels per inch. For
a passport size original then maybe as many as 600 pixels per inch would be
appropriate. This gives more information to expand the image
preventing the larger image looking 'blocky'

Image size,
formats and pixels
There are restrictions
placed upon the FunJigsaws upload feature. These are fairly
sensible and should not prevent you from uploading your photograph.
- We require that all
images are compressed and the site will only accept JPEG images,
i.e.
those with the extension jpg or jpeg.
- The compressed
images should not be larger than 4MB
- The width or height
of the image should not be greater than 3000 pixels.

Some other stuff
|
Cropping of Images We will need to crop some areas of the image so we can match the shape of
the jigsaw and emphasise the subject. We will do this with
discretion so that the main subject of the image is not cropped and
hopefully will be enhanced. If there is a problem then we will contact you
to discuss how the image should be cropped. If you would like certain areas of the image cropped then we would be
happy to follow your direction. You will need to send us a sketch (or
photocopy) of the original, marked up showing the crop lines.
Remember to apply the width to height ratio of 6/4 or 1.5 for the crop
lines for the small jigsaw and 10/8 or 1.2 for the larger jigsaw.

Adding Text to the
Images When adding a message to the front image, rather than to the back of the
jigsaw, we will locate the text so that it does not cover any of the main
subject. The colour will generally be white or a dark blue or black depending
upon the background. You can choose the font, but in the absence of instructions we will
default to
Lucida Handwriting. Only up to 50 characters (including
all spaces) will fit on the
front jigsaw image.
|
Up to 150
characters can be placed on the back of the image.
